We were gone for two weeks on vacation to Mount Rushmore, Devils Tower, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons with our friends Carl and Lynda . It was a most awesome trip. We saw so many different kinds of terrain and lots of animals. I took 500 pictures. It was the trip of a life time.
Sandra and the boys were here the 10 days before we left. We had a good time with Clay and his 3rd birthday. Spencer is really growing. He laughed out loud at me before they left. He is so precious. Clay learned to swim with the floaties while he was here. He really enjoyed the pool. We got back home on Monday and on Wed. we met Phil and Rebecca at the airport and picked up Macy. They were on their way to England for a visit.
Johnny got really Homesick while we were gone. He was ready to get home. We came home thru Santa Fe and Roswell NM. We got in a short visit with Mom and Bill.
We stayed 3 days in Custer, SD. It is only about an hour to Stugis and it was the beginning of Rally week. We saw more motorcycles than you can believe. Most of the towns we visited had their downtown area blocked off for motorcycles only. We also went to a wedding "Harley style" It was so very nice. Lynda's friend Betty got married in a quaint little church in Rochford, SD. George has a Harley and they left after the wedding on it. Betty wore her jeans and leathers for the wedding. It was just family and a few friends. The wedding was really low key and nice. We enjoyed it very much.
Every site we saw was so awesome. They got tired of me saying "Wow look at that!" Mount Rushmore is huge and unbelievable. We saw it in the evening and learned a great deal about the sculptor. Devils Tower is wonderful. We saw 2 climbers on the sheer face. Yellowstone was great. The hot springs and geysers are amazing. But the Grand Tetons are undescribable. I loved it there. The mountains, glaciers, water, trees and wildlife are everywhere. One of the coolest things we did was ride the replica ferry across the Snake River. It was simply amazing. We also got to all kinds of animals. We saw a bull moose. He was so big. We saw herds of elk and heard them bugling. Buffalo, Deer, prairie dogs, picas, chipmunks, ravens, swans, pelicans and even a bat. The only thing we didn't see was a bear or wild horses.
We learned all about huckleberries too. Johnny has huckleberry ice cream. It tasted like grape. We got to taste huckleberry jam and I had two huckleberry margaritas. Really good. We even got to see the real plants with berries.
I could go on and on. It you want to know more just give me a shout.
Johnny started back to school today and I have Morgan so we are getting back in our routine.
